Finding Purpose and Embracing Healthy Habits: Inspired by K.J. Choi
This week, I was inspired by a news article about the well-known pro-golfer K.J. Choi. At 54, the same age as me, he is an example of dedication not only to his sport but also to his health. His commitment to giving up alcohol, soft drinks, coffee, and smoking is truly commendable, as these habits are challenging for many of us to break.
What struck me most was how Choi has found a deeper purpose in his life. He shared, "I wanted to contribute to golf, which I value, by living a new life and taking good care of my body until I go to heaven. I told the young talents in the foundation, 'Hey, you shouldn't just be a flash-in-the-pan player, but a long-lasting player. To do that, you need to do this and that, and train in such and such a way. Your body comes first.' It wouldn't make sense for me to say that while eating whatever I want and retiring early, so I decided to change myself too."
Choi’s journey reminds me of the importance of leading by example and the impact our choices have on others. It’s a powerful reminder that it's never too late to embrace healthier habits and strive for longevity in both our personal and professional lives.
